Clear Aircraft Takeoff at London Airport, 4 Passengers Injured
The incident occurred at London City Airport, England when a plane belonging to the Swiss airline was forced to cancel the takeoff due to engine problem. At least four passengers were injured in the incident.
Avro RJ100 aircraft is carrying 74 passengers and four crew. When the incident occurred on Thursday (28/3) local time, the aircraft is about to fly to Geneva, Switzerland.
"Pilor refused to take off at low speeds due to engine trouble and then the passengers and crew were evacuated safely," said a spokesman for the Swiss airline as reported by the International News Today, Friday (28/03/2014).
The fire reportedly came up and firefighters were called to the scene to extinguish the fire around 15:00 local time. A spokesman for London Fire Brigade said all fires were extinguished in a short time.
However, four passengers were injured in the incident. "They receive medical care by ambulance, over sustained minor injuries," said the airline.
The impact of this incident, the airport runway which serves many businesses to service the European region was closed for 1 hour. British Air Accident Investigation Bureau has deployed a team to conduct an investigation into the incident is classified as a serious incident.
